At Burra Brewing Co. we are loudly and proudly independent. We are passionate about all things South Gippsland, and love being a part of our growing regional network of local producers
The idea of opening a brewery in Korumburra originated on a lads’ golf weekend (There may have also been some beer consumed).
Opening a microbrewery has been a long time dream of owners; Phill, Anthony and Luke. After 4 years of planning and research, finally in 2017 it has become a reality.
Phill Dempster – Owner & Head Brewer
Phill brewed his first batch of kit beer at the ripe old age of 17. Shame that he had to wait a whole year to taste it!
Several years ago he built a 50 litre all grain system, and that was when the real passion for brewing started and luckily for us, he took the hobby to an obsession.
With a successful background in logistics field, along with more recent experience working in the dairy manufacturing industry, Phill brings many valuable skills to his role at Burra Brewing Co.
Phill is passionate about brewing quality beer for the local community and tourists alike. He is excited to be bringing our unique brews to you, the customer. His favourite style of beer is a ‘hoppy’ pale ale.
Anthony Dempster – Owner
Several years of travelling and living in Europe have cemented Anthony’s love of beer. It was during this time he discovered the huge range of beer available, and became an enthusiastic consumer of independently produced craft beer. His favourite is a German dunkel (dark) style of beer.
Anthony is the owner of an engineering and sheet metal business. This along with his many years of experience working in local pubs, as a cook and behind the bar serve him well to enter into the role of brewery owner.
Anthony is eager to bring the great taste of our beer to fellow beer lovers. And he’s hoping to convert a few non-beer drinkers as well.
Luke Jones – Owner
Luke has lived and travelled in Europe, and enjoyed sampling the many different styles of beer Europe has to offer. He loves nothing more than having a beer with mates(don’t tell his wife we said that), and his favourite style of beer is a dark ale.
Luke has a background as a successful financial controller for several large hotel groups. More recently, he has been developing his career as a financial advisor. His vast knowledge of his field has made him an integral part of both the establishment, and the day to day running of the brewery.
Luke is looking forward to sharing our quality craft beer with you. So drop in, have a beer or 2 and catch up with friends.
